light control

by Wolfgang Nibori

morning’s always sneaking up on me
like an bandit with a sock full of quarters
i hate getting hit from behind that way
leaves my mind reeling the rest of the day
the hot pink glow of dawn offends my sensibilities
if i held sway over these cycles i’d let night last longer
i work better in starlight, reflect deeper by the moon’s pure guidance
i guess that means the task is to make each night mean more

from reality to myth

by Wolfgang Nibori

Daybreak. the sun drops radiance as an egg cracked on the horizon
assault from the East taking its time to push night Westward
further into the sky, cooking conditions arise
shadows stand, slowly changing position
they serve as reminders that night intends to return
great battle fought daily in a perpetual World War
hatching myths about Sun, Moon, Light and Darkness
myths evolving through the ages until modern times
now the Moon becomes desolate rock
the Sun stripped to a ball of gas ablaze
Science, providing a fresh tassle
to the tapestry of legends we call History
