in orbit gazing at the game board

by Wolfgang Nibori

fly to Cairo aboard a curtain of Persian precision
angling deep between cloud banks, contrails blue burning
passing Pyramids reminding spectators tremble
mighty Hand of Determination brushing aside doubt
turning towards Rome gods take stage for death ritual
rings cutting off ages to preserve skeletons of sincerity
lattes milling about before sunglasses hiding incomprehensive
further on to Paris, ground zero of single sanctity
spike piercing wind to lord over river-riddled shrine bubbles
crossing fog cotton to see solemn measures of the hour
standing strict in defiance of breaking twilight
yet East calls me, a race across the arm too short
hold the fruit swinging sweet, proclamation gradually etched
by the network of Roots anchoring bamboo Sapling
into a fragile grove often logged down through ages
