waking down from dreaming

by Wolfgang Nibori

your electric drill saw whining
spearmint tinted breath that always flows
bent the hands of time
into the shape of your cheap brass heart
think backwards just a minute
maybe you know how we got this lost?
try to hop back through the past while looking forward
i heard raccoons will chew their leg off in the trap
that’s a pinch of what i’m going through
yet even when it’s my desire i cannot blame you
some people found me screaming
i thought only i could hear
now i’m on this stump and wondering
are we in case of emergency, yeah?
is this the time to break the glass?
my hair hurts from the pulling as i try to twist
a little sense into my throbbing head
yet i got to keep on pushing
cause no matter what i do, like anyone
i’ll leave my mistakes behind when i’m dead

take a number and get in the punch line

by Wolfgang Nibori

i stand naked, bent and backlit by powder white light
savage in the lost found yet wildly misinterpreted
armored in scars from a thousand battles lost or won
against nature, against man, against Macy’s Day Parade of Gods
draw back now the colors to bring the rainbow taut
let the eagles drop screaming on you depraved snakes
snakes and rabbits pretending to be sentient
simply to fit in with the the livestock
i’ll piss you out of your burrows, stenched and drowning
i demand a refund for the lost causes you’ve sold me
laugh like a looning hookah sultan, let your fat bounce
hostile glances serve to reinforce your insecurities
bankvaulted dynamite belligerance drawing interest daily
the white light shows my red-rimmed eyes of blood undried
i stand bent without shame as i am for you’ve called me
twisted time and repitition
click your buttons but i’ll channel nothing except my own soul
consult your ghost strung chemical power lines
i don’t your source or your mockery of strength
i am every joker out there re-painting his sad clown face
in the frantic, maniacal hues of war

please recycle

by Wolfgang Nibori

harlequin, the danger sign, specific in its menace
formed from sharp divisions, jagged hatred lines
spreading apart worlds otherwise to overlap
drawing tight the noose around encrusted necks
stringing up each generation, left to swing, to hang
causing questions to transform into debates
rising red against blank space, yet voices peppered
ringing out, to knock the two tone giant down
cut it up to jigsaw make, different versions, same old shape

Banging Towards History

by Wolfgang Nibori

in chisel contrast, marble bearing biology formed
knocking out the invisible, every pound priceless
precision aimed at life yet unliving
still life kind of Frankenstein
rising stronger than bone, called forth
as an avatar spirit, slave to people far and wide
holding a moment the way ice locks water
standing symbolic, as immortal as its master
saying nothing lasts forever
but quite nearly proving itself wrong

sleep theater

by Wolfgang Nibori

take the confusing, make it real - wizardy
smears of color like clown make-up covering
shielding reality with fantasy, dancing upwards
as sleep-thoughts do, mind-pictures, movie-crystals
in mine i see wood, all wooden rooms of slick polish
hardwood mirrors reflecting opaque characters
men and women with white faces, no eyes, noses, mouths
standing in formal fashions, waiting as mannequins are prone
talking but soundless, total silence seeming strange
not out of place or sinister, simply ballet of the brain
conveying messages i’ve yet to decipher
codes condensed, switched forward, still singing silently
looking back i understand the confusion of a small one
yearning to translate the abstract into life’s concrete

construction

by Wolfgang Nibori

faces in dust, how water changes everything

a drop, a particle, one at a time

shifting layers to draw names, faces unpainted

as a child on woodbeams i piled tiny mountains

arranging each one as if it mattered

still, to this day i’m tempted sorely to try

try to make some muddle puddy variety using whirls

as opposed to anything permanent and what a laugh!

permanent, hell dust is more permanent than we are

or we are dust, depending upon to whom you listen

lots of people talk but who can connect

straight into those gray ripples bound in bone

your skull, of course, is what i mean

now, one last question before i go

what’s the going price for a work of art

that’s destined to be destroyed by the first downpour?

it’ll all go eventually, building blocks of pyramids

An inside look at my personal start up

Friday, June 6th, 2008

This will be a quick post. I’ll have a new video posted to YouTube today before too long. The poem’s written, all I need to do is shoot the video but the youngest member of the household must first be nestled soundly into her crib. :)

Also, I’m preparing some articles about the start-up of this site and my own career as an artist. I want to show how I’m starting and write the information about how that’s going as I go rather than looking back afterwards. Hopefully this will help someone at some point. I’ve always wished those I look up to would’ve done something similar so I figured, why not do it myself? I’ll be showing how I started up this blog (and Happy Horror, also) and telling about how long it took to gain traffic and that sort of thing. I may or may not have any powerful insight or tips, but I want to make a record of what I’ve done thus far along the trail that’s lead to the Million Dollar Poetry project. Even though I feel strongly that art and business overlap, I’ll try to categorize the posts into Art or Business so that those of you with a preference for one or the other can read what you’re more interested in. Watch for those articles within the week.

Right now my goal is to write at least a poem per day. I’ve obviously already got a sizeable collection of poetry (and some fiction) that I’ve written, but I feel as an artist it’s important to keep pushing, keep growing and moving forward (hopefully, upward!) so I’m trying to extra on top of maintaining this site and the others that I write for.

That’ll do it for now, but thank you very much for reading and supporting the project! Each of you help encourage me when things look a little less than positive.
